Ashokan Rail Trail and View of Reservoir

Catskills Park, Ulster County NY

We parked in the Woodstock Dike Parking Lot so this view near the Boiceville Bridge Trailhead was at the fair end of the rail trail. There are scenic areas scattered the entirety of the rail trail.

Ashokan Reservoir is a massive body of water, now encompassing several condemned hamlets. This area provides drinking water to NYC and the new rail trail provides outdoor activities to many visitors from NJ and NY.

Fog on Kittatinny Point

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, New Jersey

Kittatinny Point represents, in my mind, the spirit of outdoor recreation. As a boy I longingly admired these mountains on the way to Poconos camping with my neighbors and their dad. This is the site where in the summers of P.C. (Pre-coronavirus), hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts congregate on kayaks, canoes, and tubes to ride the waters of the Delaware River.  Kittatinny Point is also a quick and scenic pulloff to stretch your legs if you are traveling to Pennsylvania on Interstate 80.

Tripod Rock is the most often photographed feature of this park and a formation which I rarely photograph. It is my opinion that creating dynamic nature images of rock formations is quite challenging.

March 2020
Morris County New Jersey

With recent temperatures peaking at 66 Fahrenheit, the Wood Frogs wasted no time in getting ready for their Spring rituals. This video was filmed in a small wetlands depression and not far from an expansive marsh.
