Taken on a warm spring day, a multitude of Painted Turtles were swimming to and fro near the Sportsmen Blind. Visit Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge’s Wildlife Observation Center on Long Hill Road in Gillette New Jersey.

I was able to observe the male (left) Spotted Turtle courting the female (right) on the boardwalk nearest the Sportsmen Blind.

The best way to “capture” wildlife is to snap a picture, do not bring animals indoors or home with you. Removing wildlife even temporarily from their habitat can impair their survival skills.

On a recent June morning 2 egrets as a Great Blue Heron were active near the beaver dam. The pile of feathers at the egret’s feet are a result of preening.
