This was my first trek up this part of the Appalachian trail above the Delaware Water Gap. The hike from Camp Mohican was not easy but was not quite as grueling as I had heard.

The blue blazed dune trail at Higbee Beach houses a lot of distinct withered trees. The trail also leads the way to a decent sized pond.

Somehow I had never stopped at this nature preserve on my previous visits to Cape May. Lisa and I had a peaceful late day walk around a few of the meadow trails.

Morning Light on Bayshore

Cape May County Park South, Villas NJ

It took me 2 or 3 mornings of sunrise scouting this beach to find light and composition that worked for me. Thankfully the beach was only a few minutes from where Lisa and I were staying!

The channel of incoming water in the lower left of the frame grew after every shot as low tide wained. I chose this as my final composition due to the channel’s leading line.
