Waiting out a summer shower paid off well for me this time. This shot was taken about 70 minutes after my prior post here.

Gathering Clouds over Walpack Valley

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Sussex County NJ

I had no more than 15 minutes to find my composition before the deluge began. The Walpack Valley is an incredibly tranquil and scenic area to myself and many others. It is a challenge to give such a place photographic justice.

I could count on one hand all of the doors I’ve photographed (excluding realtor work). This shot couldn’t be passed up.

Spruce trees and ivy added to the drama of a structure from a different era.

It was clear no other person had walked around this property recently as there was scarcely a deer path to navigate the overgrowth.

I hope to revisit this vista when there is a little more cloud drama. A steep trail ascent up the mountain affords quite a view from this park.

Hibernia Pond

Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area, Rockaway Township, New Jersey

Located off of the far end of Upper Hibernia Road, parts of the pond’s shore line are composed of big piles of rock tailings from former mining operations. The local water snake community takes full advantage of the rocks.

My favorite part of this scene is the reflection of the tree and slight ripple to the water.
