I was previously unaware that these plants’ roots can yield a highly edible tuber often referred to as “duck potato” or “Indian potato”.

We had a scenic but shallow blanket of fresh powder this morning.

FYI – This area is titled as “Rattlesnake Meadow” on the Tourne hiking map. A title that likely precedes damming and flooding by local beavers.
