I was not expecting to shoot a landscape at midday yet I had to try to capture the spectacle of peak blooms of the Mountain Laurel.

Wildlife Drive
Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge
North Carolina, May 2023
I enjoyed the scenery at Pocosin Lakes just as much as I enjoyed the wildlife on our visit.
In addition to seeing a small handful of bears I also observed Red-headed Woodpecker, Blue Grosbeak, and Indigo Buntings.

Foggy morning in Rockaway Valley
Boonton Twp NJ
May 2023
I was able to park my car yesterday and shoot a few frames before the morning fog dissipated.
Another note of interest- my internet research reveals that this agricultural property near the corner of Rockaway Valley Road and Valley Road was the first preserved farmland in Boonton Township.

Red Eft
Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area

Call them what you like: Efts, Newts, or Salamanders These charismatic amphibians make me grateful for the preserved open spaces we do have in North Jersey.
Sidenote: if you do take the time to get outside to observe reptiles and amphibians do not be selfish and move them or take them home. Nobody wants to be a prisoner.

Sandy Hook – Hazy Sunrise
Monmouth County NJ
April 2023
A foggy morning cloaked the rising sun in a moon-like appearance.
