Q: When is a worm not a worm
A: When it is a snake

The 2 or 3 times I have seen worm snakes they were under surface debris. They do not seem to be as aloof as Garter Snakes.

In the shadows of a kayak launch, a Clubtail hangs from its exuvia, waiting for its wings to strengthen and “prepare for liftoff”.

Did you know that dragonflies spend most of their lives underwater?

This small Pickerel Frog jumped across the Orange Trail and onto a rock during my late day hike to the local hawkwatch.

My camera was quite low to the ground with a wide angle macro lens to capture this perspective.

Call them what you like: Efts, Newts, or Salamanders These charismatic amphibians make me grateful for the preserved open spaces we do have in North Jersey.

Sidenote: if you do take the time to get outside to observe reptiles and amphibians do not be selfish and move them or take them home. Nobody wants to be a prisoner.
