On a recent wintery morning walk I came across this Great Blue Heron adjacent to open water at Troy Brook whereas other sections had frozen over. Though I tried to walk by quietly, the distrusting bird took to the air.
This “winter finch” joined in on foraging for Juniper berries along flock of American Robins on Pleasant Plains Road.

These migratory woodland warblers can be confused for thrushes or sparrows until viewed through decent magnification. Ovenbirds are also a challenging photography subject for me as they are often lurking in the shadows of the forest floor.
