On a recent wintery morning walk I came across this Great Blue Heron adjacent to open water at Troy Brook whereas other sections had frozen over. Though I tried to walk by quietly, the distrusting bird took to the air.
Some of my favorite shots from our recent roadtrip. This was my first visit to the White Mountains and the landscapes and ecosystem were especially inspiring. It was also great to interact with so many travelers and locals that prioritize nature.

Ovenbird Wildcat Ridge WMA Rockaway Township NJ April 2025
These migratory woodland warblers can be confused for thrushes or sparrows until viewed through decent magnification. Ovenbirds are also a challenging photography subject for me as they are often lurking in the shadows of the forest floor.
