On a recent wintery morning walk I came across this Great Blue Heron adjacent to open water at Troy Brook whereas other sections had frozen over. Though I tried to walk by quietly, the distrusting bird took to the air.

In my experience these local lizards are curious and even when startled will eventually pop up to observe their observers.

These migratory woodland warblers can be confused for thrushes or sparrows until viewed through decent magnification. Ovenbirds are also a challenging photography subject for me as they are often lurking in the shadows of the forest floor.
